Earthlings
I just watched Earthlings, and am devestated. I bought a copy to send to a friend and decided I had better watch it so I know what I'm expecting of him - I knew it would be rough. He says he wants motivation to eat less meat. If this doesn't do it, I don't know what will. In fact, after spending 95 minutes sobbing, if this doesn't make him vegetarian, at the very least, I'm not sure I can be friends with him. I don't think I could be friends with someone who can really know what he's complicit in and not change.

Not of your fault, 'cause you didn't know, but I take issue with the idea that just because you're vegetarian or vegan you'll be peaceful. Tolstoy was a vegetarian (vegan?) -- and he raped his wife on a semi-regular basis, fucking her while she was asleep or while she pretended to be asleep, just because he thought he could. He felt guilty about it, but it was a purity issue, not a "right not to be raped" issue.
I'm just saying this because Tolstoy was in no way peaceful or any better than any other.. well, rapist out there.
